What, in the fairly limited time he had on the field Sunday, did you see from the rookie? Panthers Wire: With Tyrod Taylor already having been ruled out, quarterback Davis Mills is up for the start on Thursday. It isn’t exactly championship football, but it does win games, particularly when the opposition is careless with the football. The Texans’ formula is also the secret to winning game historically at any level of football: take the ball away, run the ball. If you’re on a one-year contract with the Texans, wouldn’t you want to do your best so you can catch on with a competitive team in 2022? If you’re offensive coordinator Tim Kelly, who is a holdover from the Bill O’Brien regime, yet Pep Hamilton (who knows David Culley) is the quarterbacks coach and passing coordinator, wouldn’t you want to give it your all to join an ostensibly better staff? Texans Wire: An overall lack of understanding by the general public is that no coach, no player wants to put slop on tape. What (or who) do you attribute these early performances to? Panthers Wire: In what’s likely a surprise to many, the Texans have been respectably competitive thus far, scooping up a season-opening win over the Jacksonville Jaguars and keeping it close to the Cleveland Browns in Week 2.
We linked up with Mark Lane, managing editor of our friends at Texans Wire, and asked him to give us some insight on the Panthers’ Week 3 opponent. So, we enlisted some help to see what’s up over there. Thursday, in fact, will mark just their sixth meeting over the last 18 years.
Being from a separate conference, the Carolina Panthers really don’t see much of the Houston Texans.
